    Best framing technique is 'no glass' so the print can be easily viewed without reflections or diffusion.

    TYPES of Glass Regular Clear, Non-Glare/Reflection Control, Conservation Clear (coated with film to filter UV rays), Conservation Reflection Control, and the nicest/best glass is MUSEUM glass. Anti Reflection and UV filtering. NO glass STOPS Fading! It's like sunscreen for your art.... Art will STILL FADE IN LIGHT (inside or out) 30+ years custom framing experience in TEXAS, USA. Great info...spread the word!

    Question please. Hello, I have an old (100 yr+) photograph which is adhered to a backer board which has a fine fabric attached only to the front. It is old white, 7-1/2 X 8 in, My guess is the fabric is silk. I flames readily. No discoloration can be seen due to adhesive. I wanted to find out who sold this type of board back at the turn of the Century. I have never found any such materials offered in catalogues or advertising. Thank you , good show!

    This is great information thank you! Just one question: You mentioned that you wouldn’t lay the piece face down. How did you securely attach the tape to the back while protecting the face of the artwork?

    This was interesting and one of the only videos that explains this process. I have a felt sports banner about 18"x 24" that I am told will need to be sewn to the matting board. And I am thinking that this is something I could do myself. You do great work. Thanks from Rochester, New York.

    Hi, instead of cutting the form down the center, could you not have turned the shirt inside out, placed the shirt and form neck to neck, and kind of rolled it on?

    • @Foamboards
      @Foamboards 6 місяців тому

      Hi Dianne, Most of the sports shirts nowadays are so tight-fitting that it is hard to pull over an insert. If you can do it in one flat piece, it is also fine. In some cases, they are mounted without an insert, depending on the desired overall appearance.

    I have just bought this cutter, its very good considering I'm a beginner, but not that easy to use, you will need to practice a few times untill your confident, i found that if you dont hold the centre block down firm it has the tendency to lift up making it awkward to realign,but it still makes a nice job.

    Another great video with lots of tips and advice, a man after my own heart, i use my tape measure in the same way, if your measuring a precise size dont use the metal end of the tape as you can never trust it, as the end may be damaged giving a false reading, nice one.

    The easiest way to mark a centre point is to go from corner to corner diagonally and when they cross thats your centre.

    Just getting back into painting and recently admired the application of floating frames. Thank you for a thorough & professional assembly procedure video. Tips & tricks appreciated. Love the felt bumpers , gum tape finishing touches. Curious why not cut your foam spacers so you can flip the canvas and screw together in one step rather than awkward under side screwing with chance of screwing on an angle? Plus it's dual handling. Fear of art face damage? Like air blower tip for that!

    Thank you for the video. What do you recommend for wider gaps?

    • @Endurart
      @Endurart Рік тому

      Normally if the gap was wider we would pull the frame apart and recut the mitres shaving off a little to ensure each was cut well before rejoining. If it is an older frame you are trying to fill the timber can shrink over time causing the gap which is why re-cutting is necessary. If it is something you cannot take apart and recut then an epoxy putty is a good option as it dries solid and can be painted to match the frame.

    • @Endurart
      @Endurart Рік тому

      Who knows? We don't judge the clients who get custom frames made for their pictures. It is funny to think that only a very small percentage of the population might ever get a frame made for them and then to narrow it down to a Camel smoking, Fosters drinking, pitbull owner...wow they would be a very rare individual! Far more likely to be a middle-aged, tertiary-educated female, whose kids go to private schools, who owns their own home and drives a luxury SUV. I guess we were lucky they chose us to frame their picture.

    Hi there I was wondering if you could help me. We have a beautiful jersey that is signed on the front and the back. We don’t want to cut the jersey in half. So what we were looking to have it framed like was in a clear box (similar to how dried flowers are kept) so that we can hang it from the celing and you can see both sides. We would also want a plague on it and a photo sitting it with it. Is this possible prayer 🙏 🤲

    • @Endurart
      @Endurart Рік тому

      Hi Deb, we've framed numerous items where both sides need to show. There are several solutions including the acrylic type box that could work. If you are in Brisbane maybe pop in and visit us at Fix-a-Frame and we can show you a few ideas and work things out. We are open 7 days at Fix-a-Frame, 1230 Logan Road, Mt Gravatt. Open 9am everyday. Close 5pm weekdays. Close 12.30pm weekends.

    Hi, with the deep box moulding you’ve created. With you sit the outer piece onto the inner piece, do you essentially have two rebates on it? So one where the mount board etc will set, and then further back, where the extension piece sits? I can’t find moulding that has two rebates in the UK

    • @Endurart
      @Endurart Рік тому

      The extra rebate can easily be created by the addition of a spacer inside the moulding or it is also not too hard to rout an additional slot if required. In most cases you can make a spacer from either a piece of thin flat timber or a mat board glued to a layer of foamboard.

    • @dipsmann9990
      @dipsmann9990 Рік тому

      Thank you for the response. Further to this, what depth mouldings are you using for both frames? What’s the total depth from the front to back of the frame? Thanks

    • @Endurart
      @Endurart Рік тому

      @@dipsmann9990 The face moulding was 60mm deep and the back moulding was 90mm.
